I'm a Systems Design Engineer student from the University of Waterloo, and currently at Yelp in San Francisco as a Product Manager. I'm passionate about user centered software, and a believer in finding the problems that need to be solved.
Working as a Product Manager on Scramble with Friends was extremely rewarding, not to mention fun! Being able to combine my passion for technology with business and marketing, I spent most of my time at Zynga focusing on improving the social aspects of Scramble with Friends. As we geared up for a user interface refresh, my customer focused attitude and eye for detail helped me drive product metrics and present insights on key product drivers.
Actually, you can read what my manager had to say about my work on LinkedIn!
Check out our 3rd year design project! In four short months we (team of 6 Systems Design Engineering students) put together an interactive IOT SMRT WATR fountain with hopes of improving public spaces and providing users with an fun educational experience. Take a look at the video below and you'll see that the fountain responds to a user's quiz response as they compete against other players to gain control of the fountain. Users have the ability to control water pressure, water direction and lighting.
My favourite part of working for a start-up is the pressure and responsibility of bringing your own idea to fruition. I loved working at SociaLabra because I was able to wear many hats as both a designer and developer being responsible for the coding the logic, developing the database structure and designing the user interface. Putting in 12 hour work days and sustaining a diet that consisted mostly of Burrito Boyz became so rewarding as I watched the ideas I originally pitched come to life.
I love interacting, working, and learning about people. It’s where many of my passions come from. I've always been involved in my community and still go back to Markham every summer to host Markham's Got Talent. I am extremely interested in healthcare technology and the future of human and brain computer interfaces. With the ageing population it is one of the biggest problems for our future. It is one of my personal goals to make a serious contribution in the field of healthcare awareness through social technology.
